Transitional arrangements to support governing, coordinating and funding for collective impact

Funder executive

The Funder interest group (FIG) executive, or Funder executive for short, supports strategic funding for collective impact. It is comprised of representatives from the five funders that have made large (new or recent) funding commitments that are aligned to ESIC:

  • Isabel Fletcher from the Wellcome Trust, who co-chairs the Funder executive and the Funders interest group
  • James Canton from UK Research and Innovation (co-chair), who chairs the two bodies alongside Isabel
  • Donika Dimovska from the Jacobs Foundation (Switzerland)
  • Tansy Evans from the National Institute of Health Research (UK)
  • Teresa Maguire from the Health Research Board (Ireland).

The Funder executive receives advice from the Steering group and Communities council. Each funder retains its own governance mechanisms and ability to make decisions about its own funding contributions to ESIC.

The Funder executive supports engagement of a broader ESIC Funders interest group, which is comprised of international assistance, government, philanthropic and research funders that have expressed interest in shaping and benefiting from ESIC and considering future investments in it. A briefing for funders considering how best to leverage ESIC includes slides targeting each of these four types of funders (slides 4-7).
